The main ingredient of a bowl of rice is rice
This is the first thing we want our customers to enjoy after traversing the mountains of Gero and arriving at Butai Pass
More than the luxurious Hida beef or the local specialty side dishes, it's a steaming hot bowl of white rice that's truly special。
The name of the rice is "Gin no Mikazuki" (Silver Crescent Moon)。
This special rice, originating from southern Hida, has repeatedly won top prizes in rice taste competitions nationwide and is now considered legendary among chefs and rice connoisseurs。
From just a few rice stalks found in a Koshihikari rice paddy
The roots of "Gin no Mikazuki" lie in "Inochi no Ichi," a miraculous mutant strain discovered in Gero in 2000。
It all began when a particularly strong, towering rice stalk in the paddy field bore fruit。
The size of the rice grains and their vibrant vitality have captivated producers, who have carefully preserved and nurtured the seeds for generations。
To bring out the inherent deliciousness of this rice, cultivation is limited to mountainous and hilly areas, mainly in the Hida region。
The pure, pristine snowmelt water, the clear air provided by the high altitude, and the significant temperature difference between day and night—it is only when the harsh natural environment of southern Hida and the meticulous handiwork of the farmers come together that a truly exceptional "Gin no Mikazuki" chocolate can be created.
The overwhelming size of the grains and the sweetness that overflows with every bite
The first thing that surprises everyone when they see a silver vessel is the "size of the grains."。
Compared to Koshihikari rice, it is about 1.5 times larger, and the outline of each grain is clearly defined。
When cooked, it boasts a brilliant whiteness and sheen, asserting its undeniable presence even when simply served in a bowl。
When you put it in your mouth, you get the pleasant, chewy texture that only large grains can offer。
With each bite, a pure sweetness free of any unpleasant aftertaste and the rich, natural aroma of rice fill your mouth。
At the restaurant in Butai Toge Farms, we offer this proud rice dish along with Hida beef grilled on a ceramic plate and "Keichan," a soul food of southern Hida。
While the combination of the flavorful meat soaked in sauce is exceptional,I highly recommend trying the first bite with just the rice, without any condiments.
The significance of rice being the main ingredient will permeate your body with just one bite。
Bring the delicious memories of your trip to your own dining table
"I want to try cooking that rice at home," "I want my loved ones to experience this deliciousness too."
In response to such requests from customers who have dined at our restaurant, we now offer a variety of polished "Gin no Mikazuki" rice products at our direct sales corner。
A memento of your trip, or a special gift
Please enjoy the authentic flavors nurtured by the mountains and waters of Gero in the comfort of your own home。
