What is a Sarubobo?

The name "saru no baby" (baby monkey) is said to mean "baby monkey" in the Hida dialect, and
there are various theories about its origin and history, including that it has positive meanings such as "going away" (disappearing) or "good fortune" (connection/circle). It is becoming increasingly popular as a souvenir from the Hida region.
